I was going to put a Skeg GUard on the motor but with all this talk about ROck Guards I'm not sure sure now. Will a rock guard slow your HP down?
As always thanks for you input.

I lost no performance and gained a ton of protection with Wavel's skeg guard

Every one is custom built and fit to the motor. This one was made yesterday. Wavel also straightened my slightly bent skeg, and primed the bare aluminum before installing the rock guard. I watched the installation. Wavel is very meticulous. The guard is bolted on with 1/4" bolts. After he bolted it on he cut the bolts off flush with the nuts, welded the nuts to the bolts, and ground everything smooth. You won't go wrong with a Porter rock guard.

How does a metal guard protect a metal skeg that protects a metal motor that hits a rock that is harder than metal? Every rock I ever hit did a lot more damage than just a skeg.

It's a skid plate for your foot. Better to lose the "skid plate" than the oil pan.
