4/20 Friday Afternoon at the lighthouse
Posted: April 21st, 2007, 3:00 pm
After waiting on a friend driving from destin, finally
put the boat in at the lighthouse at 4:30. Wind was blowing pretty hard out of the north/northeast, and the sky was real hazy and smelled like a campfire.
We headed east and began fishing in about 3.5 to 4' of water, and began drifting pretty fast to the southwest. Very first cast landed a nice trout. We stayed the course and fished between 2.5' and 5', with most trout coming in the 3-4' range. My garmin was reading 66 degree water temp. We made about 5 drifts-fishing until about 7:30-ending the day with 5 trout in the 16 to 18 inch range (it's the first time my boat's cooler has ever actually seen a limit of trout
), a lot of small trout, some ladyfish, a spanish, and of course my day wouldn't be complete if I didn't catch a sailcat.
Most fish were caught with gulp under a CT, and one trout was caught with a small pinfish under a CT.
