Went fishing at Mom and Dads family lake last night and my uncle and me spotted a huge disturbance on the top of the water right at dusk. We ran over in the jon boat and I made a big old cast with a small freshwater skitter walk and hooked up. Now keep in mind I have that 3/4 Test Power Pro Phantom Red which is 5lb test. I think its more but thats what its rated at. I have it on a Shimano Stradic 1000 on a 5'6" Compre Rod rated for 1-4 lb test. Now the thing I hooked up with is pulling me and my uncle around the lake in a 10' jon boat with the rod doubled over for about 5 minutes until it goes over to the willow tree and I lose it. The lure must have come out of his fur. Thats right I said fur, cause come to find out I had hooked up on a 60 lb Beaver that has been eluding my Dad from capture. It crawled into his hidey hole by the willow tree and slapped the water with his tail as he got away. That braided line is spectacular. I know that a Redfish would have made some faster movements than that beaver did but that line held up to some tremendous pressure while I cupped the spool and doulbled over that rod. I didn't lose the lure that was tied straight to the line with no leader. Thanks Power Pro.
