I know, I know....but I can't find anyone with a gauge to put on it for a one time check. So I figure trying to go down from the pitch on the 3 blade I'm running now for a 4 blade.
Does anyone have or know of someone who has an RPM gauge I could borrow??

better get a RPM gauge mounted perm. on that boat. (Jackplate + tunnel) - (-rpm gauge+ - water presure guage) = new power head.

Come on Redbelly get a tach and that four blade already!!! This is your fourth thread about props and tunnel hulls. 
Just kidding, I am seriously interested in your results though so I can figure out what to do with mine.

So, I wanna talk about it! 
I am gonna start with an aluminum 4 blade. I will report the performance, good or bad. Now y'all got me thinking on installing a RPM and water pressure gauge....but it's just a 40hp....
The boat is at Porter's gittin' a rock guard installed this week.

It may be just a 40 horse, but if you over turn it, or run it high enough it ain't pickin up water, you'll be buying another one.Redbelly wrote:....but it's just a 40hp....
Barhopr gave you some very good advice. Put a tach and water pressure gage on that thing.

In my experience the 4 blade will reduce your top end rpm's....
mine (90 Yammie) from 5800 with a three blade to 5100 with the four.
A good thing for me! Top end loss is from 35 to 31 on GPS but at least I'm not punishing motor with rpm's too high.
Water uptake has never been a problem with me as the highest I ever
lift my engine without tilting is about 6 inches and that's to idle in and out of really skinny water. With that setup if I can float I can move along. When I'm getting down on it in shallow water I'm up about 4 inches with no problems. I'm pushing 17' X 8' fiberglass tunnel.

I run a 3 blade aluminum prop on my tunnel and it does fine, but I need a spare so I have been considering switching to a 4 blade stainless.
