Had a friend ask me why I always fish at Econfina. Got me to thinking.

I like it over Aucilla and St marks because I do not want to lose a trailer axle (aucilla) or back down in saltwater (Lighthouse). Putting at the fort takes 20 minutes of running the river to the gulf. At Anky, I ony have 10 minute tops from unloading to being in the gulf, with easy access to Rock Island area to the south, and the Aucilla-Rock garden area to the north.

The only catch at anky is you got to watch the tides.

Plus only 15 miles to 30 or so ft of water and Grouper..

And I most always catch fish.

Anyway, the point of this post is to ask the question...

What is your favorite spot to put in at and why?

ANKY!

Mainly because that's where I keep boat and only have to trailer it
about 300 yds.

Also, I usually fish alone and can launch boat relatively easy by myself
using the upriver side of ramp. Loading is no problem on either side of ramp.

Generally, traffic moves fairly smoothly even on a busy day.
Usually the only hangups are people new to the area and not familiar
with the flow patterns of boats, vehicles, etc.

For me, Spring Creek.

#1 Launch in fresh water.
#2 Able to run in or out on a negative tide.
#3 Ramp is $5.00 and at private resident to keep eyes on your belongings.
#4 Able to run to Aucilla or around to Turkey Point and fish areas in between.
#5 Able to stop by the Shell Point beach and check out the scenery.
#6 When you return your able to go to one of the fresh water springs and jump in to rinse off and cool down after a long hot day.

St Marks fort. Close to home and freshwater. Gets a little crowded at times though :smt011

I'm not that picky, however I do prefer a freshwater landing to a salt water landing.

Econfina , boat is in water at boathouse. Fresh water up stream to flush as we go in. Great fish-n. Don't like to trailer. 8)
