i have been considering on intalling a leaning post in my boat. The ones i have seen have a cooler under them. The problem with it is the lid of the cooler will not open all the way up. It is hard to get into the cooler.
Does anyone know of someone that custom builds them??
I thought this would make a great Mothers Day present.

The leaning post I have is pretty tall and I don't have any problem opening a cooler under it. The problem I do have is fitting one under it, with the foot rest down the cooler sticks out about half way.

I got one from Marine Liquidators in Perry and it is tall enough to open for me to easily open my cooler and it has a bar that keeps it from interfering with my footrest.

I decided to try and put some of my trim carpentry skills to work and built my leaning post. All was fine until i got to the fiberglassing found out I'm not to good at it.After a hole lot of sanding and fixing some glassing imperfections and a little paint this what i got.

The backrest came off the old cooler seat other than that I enjoy it very much because its custom to my needs.

I like that one better than the one I've got. I've thinking about trying to add dome tackle storage to mine but can't figure out exactly how I want to do it. Nice work.
