What a weekend. I went out to Cape San Blas to pre-fish a boat tournament with NFGFC. Friday I left the house at 04:00 and arrived at the Canoe Launch on the road going out to Cape San Blas park. Its located on the right hand side where you see the big rocks piled up on the beach on the left. The water comes right up to the back of your truck and makes it really easy to load and unload your boat and get in the water. I paddle out and the water is less than three feet in most places with a few cuts that get a lot deeper. I through a topwater plug a couple of times, and had something really big hit it (most likely a big Jack). It broke off right at my triple surgeons knot. Well I switched over to those new 7â€

In a kayak nothing looks close. I am a testament that an overweight physically unfit man can easily paddle around inshore. I put 11.1 miles on my kayak Friday afternoon and Saturday. I went out to Blacks Island (3.5 miles one way) into the South wind with the plan of drifting back across those flats. I had never been to the Island and it looked pretty good. Nice fishing spot. Thanks to everyone for not running over me, this was the first tournament where I actually saw fellow fishermen. Great time.

Nice report...that's some smooth looking water. I think every time I've hit St Joe it's been a good 2' chop.
