I cheated and took the day of to fish with a friend at Ecky. Wind was a blowing but not as rough as I thought it might be. Fished here and there and everywhere. Ended the day with 6 keeper trout. Caught a mixed back, Ladyfish, a couple of cats, a couple of Blues, a few rockbass but no spanish.

I did have something interesting happen, While fishing near Cobb Rock I had a school of something rush by. Fish appeared to be 3-4 feet long, a school of 30 or so. One hit my grub and proceeded to start spooling me. While this was fun, I knew there was no stopping him. Before he has his way with me, I applied presure to the spool knowing this was not the answer I figured this was better than waiting til there was no line and letting it break at the spool. Instead, it broke off and I was able to reel up what was left and continue fishing.

Any ideas as to what it could have been ? Do Kings come in this close ? They where to big to be Spanish.

Anyway, on the trailer by 4 and dropped the boat at Wavel Porters for my soon to be new Rockguard.

Enjoyed the day off and plan for more of those soon.

Welby....we were in the very same area Saturday. Dixie Reb (my son) hung a big ole tarpon on a c/t with a pinfish....and he spooled him down to the axel and broke off. Beautiful...tail walked and all.
We were there one other time past and got into a huge school of little tunny. Caught one this time though. :-?
Kinda surprise you weren't blowed off the pond.

When you add salt water, there is no telling what you'll catch anywhere. Sounds like a decent day nonetheless.
