Took the six year old to ride out eighteen holes at Wildwood this afternoon. :D

Found a cute little baby cottonmouth on 12 fairway. It went into a defensive posture, coiled, mouth wide open straight up to cover itself. You could see the cute little fangs.

Found out a 60º wedge is good for something after all. And didn't even take a divot. :-D

One, cut him in two right behind his "neck". :D

By the way, the swamp behind the golf course is well on it's way to filling back up. Anybody been to the main boil at Spring Creek lately? Is it still flowing?

Saw two grey rat snakes today. This morning there was one crossing the fairway, again on 12. Then this afternoon, several hours later, saw another one down at Live Oak Island. I don't think it was the same one. Both continued on their errands, un-messed with.

I don't normally see this many snakes in such a short period of time.

Come to think of it, I saw two foxes at different locations on my way to work Friday morning. For me it's very unusual to see one on the side of the road.

Is there something going on I haven't heard about?

We were day hiking off the Appalachian Trail in Virginia and the kids were swimming in a pool, and a lot of snakes came up around one of the younger boys. His brothers began tossing sticks and rocks to seperate the snakes from their brother. I was watching it all unfold anda treehugger who was braiding her armpit hair on another rock started yelling at the kids for harming the snakes and it was their home. One of the boys had caught one of the snakes and threw it at her and she was last seen running through the woods.

Wedge? Man, I would have taken out the driver for more stand-off. :-D

^^Weeeeeellllll, I thought about that, but...
1) I don't have a driver
2) I already had the wedge in my hand
(the fact that I haven't learned to hit a golf ball with these new wedges and always lay it up short is irrelevant to the snake)
3) I feel like I have more control with a shorter club than a longer one.
:-D
