Fishing West Flats St. Marks Saturday Afternoon!

Greetings fellow anglers: Tommy, Courtney, & I decided to put in at Shield's Marina early this afternoon and charge out to the west flats for a fish bite! Weather was really nice, wind easterly around 10-15 mph, water slightly stained, some floating grass, but not enough to clog up the top water hard baits. Water temp around mid 70's, air temp mid to upper 80's, minor feed time around 2:30 p.m., falling tide to low at 6:30 p.m. - very nice, so far! 
We fished Gulp's in New Penny, Natural, & Nuclear Chicken (or whatever the darn thing is called - a bright neon colored bait anyway) as well as Slurp's in New Penny & some "chicken" color...whatever, they worked, but only for pinfish and small trout. Even live chub minnows and live shrimp failed to ring the dinner bell for these worked over fish.
Let's see, how did that song go of the 60's: "Oh, where have all the flowers gone, long time passing..."? 
Well, that is how I felt about the redfish, flounder, & trout that did not show up for supper either! 
Yeah, that's it...they were sleeping! Anyway, just to show ya'all how my luck goes, not only did the fish snub us, but the Johnson 135 Seapro began to cough up fur balls...you know that sound we all do NOT like to hear out on the water...the bells & warning lights [WARNING WILL ROBINSON] of the engine going off.
Well, we shut the engine down to check things out and drifted up on the west sand bar...you know, the big sucker...yeah, right up on top, with a falling tide. You know the boat got stuck, but, of course! 
Capt. Reggie and Commander Turtle had a serious discussion as to who was going to push the boat off the sand bar...I lost - we both pushed, Courtney steered! 
Finally, the boat was off the bar and we headed back to the landing just in time to put the boat on the trailer as the warning lights and bells went off again!

I already sent an apology to QueenB because I won't get to fish the tournament next Saturday with them @ Econfina...that hurts! 
But, whatever the cost, bad days of fishing still beats any kind of work - no matter the pay, I say!!!
