The Code of Conduct

I

I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

II

I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.

III

If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and to aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

IV

If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.

V

When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.

VI

I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

Thank you to all Veterans. I want to say to all the Vietnam Veterans that I am deeply sorry about how you guys were treated when you came home and this 25 year old kid thanks you for your service even though I wasn't even born at the time.

Thank you, Jeff, for that reminder...I haven't taken that oath since 1984, but those words still mean everything to me...as a Vietnam Veteran (1969-70), as a US Naval Hospital Corpsman - retired (1968-86); and, with several years of service in USMC (1972-84 - Semper Fi)!

I was taught "Duty, Honor, & Country" early in life from two of the best military schools in this country. I have lost several childhood friends, shipmates, and military "brothers & sisters" in three different wars since my volunteer induction into the Navy. As a veteran, I feel the same today as I did back then - everyone owes a debt of some measure by belonging to and living in this country of freedom we call America. Freedom is NEVER free. Many souls, better than mine, have paid their "last full measure" to keep the rest of us free from whatever form of stalks our citizens, yesterday, today, and will tomorrow!

I salute those men and women in uniform, in whatever the branch of service they choose to serve in today, that stands guard over us and are willing to give us their "last full measure" to protect that something we call FREEDOM! God Bless America, God Bless Our Veterans, & God Bless Our Troops On Duty Today!

Consider the fact that we can fish where we want to and when we want to with very little restrictions only because we just happen to live in the "land of the free and the home of the brave" - AMERICA!

I appreciate that Mojokoko..I went in the service in 66 and served two tours in Viet Nam..In those days it wasn't an option whether you served or not.. There was a draft plus you served because it was the thing to do.. It was your duty.. When I got home and discharged it puzzled me the position so much of the country had taken. Most of us that served there just kept quiet and tried to reestablish our lives as well as we could.. I feel I was greatly blessed in this. The past 39 years generally have been good to me. All our veterans appreciate acknowledgement of their service.

I served in the Corps as well.

Paw was Army and my oldest bro too.

Next was Navy.

Paw in law retired from the Marine base in Albany Ga.

He was a good man and I miss him and my dad I have been thinking about them both all day.

I also want to thank those that are serving and sacrificing now.

USN HT3 80-84 Was lucky enough to not serve during a foriegn conflict. Wish I could of met my Uncle who gave his Life at Okinawa. SALUTE TO ALL SERVICE MEMBERS WHO HAVE SACRIFICED EVERY THING TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOM.
