Greetings all! Happy Memorial Day. Trust you are having a good day and please try to remember to say thanks to the good lord for the folks who have made the sacrifices to allow us to be able to have the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.
Fished out of Ecky , hunting 11 in a row. Not real sure why Im trying to keep the streak alive, but its fun so on I went. Got to the landing @ 8:30 put my boat in at 9:20. Ive never had that happen before. I dont mind sharing this wonderful resource with everyone, its certainly everyone's to enjoy. All I would ask is show a little courtesy. I know no one on this forum or in the NFGFC would ever act the way some of these folks were acting. I met King Pinfish yesterday at the ramp. Good to meet you buddy and helk of a boat you had there. Hope you guys wore em out.
Now back to my story. If youve ever hunted at Lake Seminole on opening day for ducks, yesterday was kind of the same. You see I grew up hunting the lake, and if you ve never been there , let me elaborate how yesterday was the same. What happens at the lake is You get there at 3 or 4 in the morning and set your decoy rig . You sit there usually for an hour or so bs'n with your buddies until you get good and pumped about the slew of quackers you and your boys are about to dominate. Then , at about ten minutes before daylight, twelve spotlights from twelve boats head directly at you. You flash'em to ward em off yet they set up 25 yards away. Because you got up early and did your pre season scouting, set up the perfect spread, they figure hey this guy must have the ducks and want to join your party. Sure enough , first light , whistling wings. Four bank over the blocks. You and your boys drop all four before they can exit the spread. Five minutes later, A huge group of about 25 start to decoy in, they get about 120 yds off the deck , they circle, their about 80 yards off the deck, you tell your boys be still , dont move , their coming in, 75 yards, BOOM, BOOM,BOOM,BOOM,BOOM. THE SKYBUSTING HAS BEGUN. Who the hell can hit a duck @ 75 yds?? The moral of this story is a little kindness goes a long ways. That dang bay is full of trout and theres plenty out there. Plenty of other species , too. If youre gonna fish an area , go more than once a year and try and learn it. Dont put your kid on the bow and when you see someone hook up more than once pull up close enough that they can read your registration numbers and tell your big wife has a tweety bird tattoo on her oversized floppers!!! There is one reason and one reason alone that I carry standard flares and not a flare gun. When this jackleg proceeded to motor across @ idol speed thirty yards across in front of our drift and big Lilly decides to throw our her Zebco 808 and hang up on a bar and then he backs down on it and retieves her Ct, all this from a pontoon boat, well needless to say , thats why I dont carry a flare GUN!! I swear if I d of had one Id of made big Lillys tweety bird look like roast duck!! :smt013 :smt013 PLease Please Please, help others to understand the importance and not to mention the safety of on the water courtesy. I bet there were 8 or 10 boats yesterday that came w/in 50 -75 yds of my boat @WOT. The wakes dont bother me as I have a big boat, but always keep our anglers with smaller boats in mind. Ok I ve ranted enough.
After about an hour or two of this BS, I told my buddy so much for trying for big boys where we were cause everytime we moved and caught a fish ,twelve boats would some how lock down on us. We headed twelve miles away from where we were, fished the rest of the day and never saw another boat. I did have one unfortunate deal. My buddy hung a good fish and I was running for the net. Caught a treble hook in the pankey toe. Somehow dropped my rod and net in the water. I lost a reel and rod last week over the side so couldnt let it happen again. Removed the hook ala Bill Dance style(snatch and holler), while my buddy held us on the new bottom structure(my rod) with the trollin motor. Down to my skiveys and into the drink I go. Do you have any idea how cold 72 degree water is?? Do you have any idea how hard it is to get 250lbs of round arse to a rod twelve foot deep?? Anyways, totals for the day, 42 trout caught of which about 15-20 were shorts. Limit on trout 16.5-19. Not a great limit but considering, we werent gonna complain. Caught Spanish, Rockies, Blues, aand bunches of the fightin ladies. Looking forward to Friday afternoon when hopefully there will only be you guys down there and Ill get to fish with sportsmen once again.

I know how you feel BB...we had the same jackarses do that to us on Saturday...everytime we'd catch a fish, boats would flock instinctively like the salmon of capistrano...A few times I felt like chunkin a topwater lure into their boat...but at least you were successful! Nice pics and way to keep the streak alive!

I'm glad you guys got the fish and I'm sorry about what you dealt with.

I hate fishing on holiday weekends- That is why my boat has stayed dry since I took it out of the water Thursday night.

I can also relate to your experience at Seminole- Remember the season when Mick was drained? Nuts over there....

Exactly why you'd be hard pressed to find me on the water over a holiday weekend.

I tell you, some of the people that fish around here have NO CLUE WHAT SO EVER about water courtesy or safety for that matter. I've really never seen anything like it. I've written several items about the same kind of thing happening to me. Hang in there, most of the people that do those kind of things have no clue what they're doing and lucky for the rest of us they only come out about once or twice a year. I do my fishing on the weekdays to avoid the morons. The upside is that's a nice mess of fish. Next time look right at them raise your arms in disbelief and stare at them like what the F are you doing, idiot... That's what I do.

Next time you loose some fishing gear over the side of the boat, just run over to Cairo and see Heath at "South Georgia Outdoors". He'll fix you up and you can stay dry !!!

Glad you caught'em again. I hope that next weekend the weather and the fish cooperate... 8)

It will forever be chaotic on holidays.

Although around shell point I was surprised at how few boats there were.

Bman you are right. I remember that year was the biggest cluster ever at Seminole.

Get a sling shot and a big old egg sinker knock the gel coat off them, if they are so close they can be hit they deserve it! :smt014

Better be packing some serious heat they will get pissy if you hit them. :smt010

I guess the cool thing about being in the yacht club is you can haul azzzzz and escape and evade them. :-D

Great show mister in a row way to go.
