Got a buddy heading to St. Augustine soon and was looking for some advice/tips on inshore fishing. Anyone with any experience in this area?

THERE IS PRETTY GOOD FISHING SOUTH OF THE BRIDGE OF LIONS IN THE BAY AND IN THE INTERCOASTAL WATERWAY, I ALWAYS DID BETTER IN THE INTERCOASTAL SOUTH AS FAR DOWN AS SEA WORLD. THERE ARE A LOT OF REDS AND FLOUNDER, TROUT IS FAIR BUT NOT OUTSTANDING TILL YA GET DOWN TO NEW SYRMERNA(SPELL) . YA CAN CATCH A PILE OF SHARK AND CATS IN THE INLET BUT THE WATER RUNS PRETTY FAST THERE.

I LIVED THERE FOR TWO YEARS, THE BEST FISHING I FOUND WERE IN THE CREEKS, SOUTH OF THE BRIDGE, THAT IS THE NEXT BRIDGE SOUTH OF THE BRIGE OF LIONS. I CANT REMEMBER THE ROAD NUMBERS.

I ALWAWYS WANTED TO FISH THE AREA NORTH OF VILONA BRIDGE BUT NEVER HAD THE TIME.

There's usually good fishing at Matanzas Pass. Really nice state park there, free parking, and you should be able to castnet some finger mullet. A lot of people also fish from the bridge. There's also a tackle shop with live bait a couple of miles north of the pass on the intracoastal side of the highway, can't remember the name of it but you'll see a sign for a private boat launch.

Born and raised in the area. Actually if I were you fish east and north. There is a ramp on the west side of the Vilano Bridge use it to access waters directly across from boat ramp. This area is called porpoise point. Great area for Reds and Flounder. Do not target trout on the eastcoast with shrimp alll you will catch is baitstealers. Now that I think of it try not use`shrimp at all and forget about the trout. Bring a good castnet and you will get all the finger mullet you need. The jetties can be very productive for tarpon, flounder, reds this time of the year also.
Hope this helps and remember its all about finger mullet, use artificial if you want but try to match.
