Her first fish

No wind this morning and sunny. Perfect day to take the family out to the lighthouse to see if we could catch E's first fish. She had been skunked on the last two trips with her brother having all the luck. After two stops at the bathroom for E, a.k.a Ms. Bitty Bladder, we got to the fort and put it. It was a perfect day.
We headed out to the light house and tried close in first. Nothing but pin fish. It didn't take long for the kids to get fidgety so we headed out to the flats. One thing about fishing with a 4 and 7 year old is that you have to be on your game. If we aren't cathing anything it quickly goes downhill. That's usually when they hit the cooler and mow through the snacks and juice boxes.
4 feet of water on the flats was the ticket. The girls were fishing in the back of the boat and the boys were in the front. E hooked a legal trout and hauled him in all by herself. Mom was making sure she didn't wind up in the drink of course.

C's fish got off. That's the breaks. Sorry C!

She landed one more short trout not long after that. We switched C to the back with E's rod, but he spent the rest of the time doing this.

The pin fish went through our bag of new penny Gulp pretty quick. It wasn't long before it was time to head back to the Fort to eat a little watermelon that had been chilling in the cooler all morning.
Short morning on the water, but a perfect family outing. Times like these remind you of how blessed we are!
By the way. The last two times we have fished with one orange CT and one yellow CT. ALL of the fish we catch are on the Orange. Both were fished with new penny gulp shrimp. Do you think there's anything to the color difference?
