Econfina 6-10

Thw wife and I left the house this am at 4:30, got to Anky around 6 and met Welby at the landing. I remember him sayin' he was the runt of the family on a post here..
. For those of you who have seen him, you know what I an talkin about.....
Anyway, the plan was to go out a do a little trout fishin and then hunt some groupa's around noon. Very first cast, pulled in a keeper rock bass (maybe a bad omen?), after that, nothing but runt rocks and 10 to 12 inch trout. Not a single keeper trout!
We were fixing to move when the rod I had out on a CT with a 4 inch gulp on it started singing....and I mean SINGING. Anyway, this guy came up to the boat after a few runs....

Now, this is where you get paid back for being a cheapskate. I, being the frugal person I am, decided to get a cheap Berkley lipper, instead of a Bogagrip. I don't think I need to explain any further. I cannot post on here what I said.
That 36 inch cobia just twisted and flipped the lipper right off, then proceeded to break the leader and proceed on his merry way. I would have released him anyway, but sure would have liked to have had a nice photo of him.
After another 30 minutes of no keeper trout, we headed out to a few spots...They were BUSY. I have never seen the boats out like that on a sunday. The grass was kinda rough anyway at the first spot, so we proceeded to a little number I have and soon bagged a 26 inch gag, and after that, only a few shorts....
Around 1:30, with our bodies being baked
, we headed back in....
It was a hot tough day, but at least I got dinner out of the trip.....
Oh, did I say it was
~Hot~
?
