BigBendFishing.net Fly Swap

Post by Chalk »

Anyone interested?

Rules of engagement:
1. Limit of six participants
2. Mail or hand deliver six flys in package suitable for return mail
3. Include return postage
4. Deadline for submitting flies is 07/20/07
5. Tied by person, no store bought flies

To summarize - You sign up, you tie six flies, mail or hand deliver to me, in a shipping container with return postage (even if you hand deliver)...when I receive all entries...six flies one from each participant will be sent out to each participant

Any takers?

When I was guiding in another place and time I kinda hooked up with the flyshop owners daughter where Dupree of the Dupree's spoon fly worked  I know all the secrets so I'm In. But I would love to get some help starting a flyfishing tournament to benefit all timers disease. Lets get it done. I think it will be great fun.

 Okay, Chalk, consider that I have "officially" committed! Now how many do we need? By the way, do you need to know what I will tie or is that a surprise? :lick:

Barry, I too would like to see the batch.

Additionally, I'll steal an idea from a double-gun forum I participate on and present it to the participants. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm trying to create work for others (but know that I would participate if I had the skills).

Anyway, on the other forum there was a fly swap and everyone tied one more fly than was to be traded. The extra box was put up for auction with proceeds going to the club. Proceeds here could go to a charity, BBF, CCA, whatever you guys want; its your swap. In the end, a fellow forum member gets a great batch a flies, you guys get a little extra practice tying, and the organization of you choosing gets a little extra funding.

FYI-there are actualy 4 boxes for auction on the other forum (12 flies per box), and they are currently bid between 45 and 75 dollars per box.

Just food for thought
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.
