Anyone got a recommendation on a good, cheap, casting net? I have been using a Sabiki and it is a pain.

Thanks,

-Bill

Don't get on too big to start off with. A 10' net will wear you out pretty quick. Wally world has some 6 footers that will work and you wont break the bank with them.

Watcha trying to catch.

Most of my bait catching is around oyster bars. I throw a $30 6' net and catch all the 8" mullet and 4" mud minnows I want.

I agree with Barhopr. You can get a 6' net from Wal-Mart reasonable. I used to use a sabiki, but nothing is easier if your getting pinfish than a little zebco. Put some shot on the line about 12" from the same size hook you'd use for bream. I use little pieces of old Gulp! baits and then fish right above the grass. It doesn't take more than 20 minutes to get all the bait I need.

If you happen to drive through Panacea anytime stop at Crums minimall bait and tackle (its also a BP station). They have some nice nets even cheaper than Wallyworld. And I have found they don't have too much memory in them so you can keep them in a bucket and they will still spread fairly well.
