St. Marks 6/30 - Fun on the big pond.

Left Shields at 7:30am, headed out the west flats. First time out with the new GPS, very cool. Picked up a few short trout. Headed back in to work the sprague bar and caught some monster blues. My 12 year old son Hunter had a BEAST of a blue on and lost him at the boat
. That blue had to be close to 30in and was as big around as an NFL football. I have never seen one that big. Needless to say Hunter was not happy. (sidenote: I tried to name his younger brother Fisher, but the wife just wouldn't have it. So Brett it is
probably a good thing since Brett does not like getting up early to go fishing, if its after 10am he's all for it.)
So after a couple nice blues near sprague bar we head back out further this time on the west flats and set up a couple drifts. This time we pick up a nice keeper trout and a few more shorts. And as everyone knows ladyfish, sharks, and a million pinfish (I love to watch Hunter set the hook on what he thinks is a 25in trout and come to find out its a 4in pinfish hehe).
Anyway to make a long story short, we finished the day with a few nice blues, a nice sailcat, one keeper trout and a very good dinner.
Catch of the day...

Hunter actually fighting that monster blue...
