I say always post the good, the bad and the ugly...today was the bad, almost an ugly  .

My neighbor that stopped by the other week to ask if I was Chalk (Ricky) and I slide the Ghostrider into the bay bright and early this morning...Ricky makes a nice long first cast and bam catches a nice keeper trout...I was worried that the day maybe tough and it was.

We fished 36.2 miles of lacking redfish, not eating redfish and sleeping redfish bank...Yes, sleeping redfish...they were still and not moving...I hung a spoon in front of one so long Ricky said he never saw a spoon flutter so long and not get eat'n...Broke out the whippy stick and cast to two other snoozers and got the same results.

Ended up heading to the goto spot of 2006 and finally landed a 21 inch red and had a few others on for a few seconds.

Saw some really nice trout while looking for reds, saw some nice reds, we just couldn't get them to eat...I'm done with West bay for awhile, it will be east bay, St. Joe or CIS until the fall.

Lures were topwater, had one rat red hit a spoon.

Nothing broke, spent a good long day enjoying mother nature

 That's really wierd. We saw some sleeping fish earlier in the year, but water was only 65 deg. then. What would make them lethargic this time of year?

I figure we are coming off a full moon and the fish are feeding through the night and sleeping during the day...The fish we caught and bait activity only started around 4:00 pm, so that's my thinking. The later it got the more activity we saw...If we have bright nights, fish later in the day

Definitely just a bad day. Ugly is when you drop your boat on the ramp or run over a 2X4. :D Glad you got to look at some fish anyway.
