Well so much for a secret spot- I pulled up to the boat ramp to see no less than 30 trailers. 30 at a spot I thought most folks didn't go to.
It has been over 20 years since I fished there with my dad.
I had a memory of the dirt ramp and pulling a gill net for mullet in one of the back bays- I remember we got a Cobia one trip.
Well we put in after waiting for a couple of other boats to get out of the way and idled out-
clear water and nice grass in the back bays.
After a little idling and polling we ran to the open water.
We ran the shore line looking- more nice grass beds!
Then we went out to the point- and ancored up the boat.

Can't see it from this photo but there were people beaching everywhere- most of them were just sunning and may have a surf rod out catching sharks and cats.
I did get to be a hero and help one guy with an I/O bow rider. He had backed up to the beach and a combo of the tide going out and poor anchoring had buried his foot in the sand. He had no idea how to get it unstuck. I had him put everyone in the party on the front of the boat and we picked up on the back and pushed- it was just enough to get him off the beach.
I wanted to see if I could get a pompano.
Fished for a while with a few bumps- and then hooked into another Ray.
If we ever have a Ray tourny I will be the king!

Got one Pompano but forgot to take a photo.
There were some tower boats on the outside edge of the point- it was ROUGH and there was no way I was taking my skiff out with them.
Didn't see them catch anything but they were persistent.
After a little more of that I decided to go look for trout and reds.
Caught a few short trout and one nice one on topwater.
The photo does not do it justice.

Wife started getting hot so we ran back.
All in all a nice trip on some "new" water- found a few nice holes that should hold reds.
I know I could go back and hit the trout hard.
Had baked pompano and grits for dinner
