Spent the week of the 4th with the in-laws and finally caught the elusive ICW redfish after 5 years of trying.

7-5
Left early Thrusday afternoon (large shin-dig the nigth before    ) and caught the out going with FIL and another buddy. Found a few nice oyster bars and starting throwing shrimps. I HAD never caught redfish there but managed to boat a three man limit in short order to go along with the mangroves and black drum my partners caught. :-D Good Day

7-6
Left early Friday morning (not so many  ) and caught the in coming. Grounded the FIL boat so he got and pushed (his boat=his problem) found a nice bunch of bait and started throwing shrimps again (FIL believes in live bait). Another two redfish and some decent flounder. Cleaned fish and had a nice little fish fry with a few too many  .

7-7
Wife and FIL had a charter he won for redfish (which the wife has never caught). The BIL and I launched shortly after they did found a few feeder creeks that looked like should hold fish and they DID. Two more upper slots and three over (29", 32" and a personal best of 33 1/4") to go along with some more mangroves, flounder and black drum. We were cleaning fish as the wife and FIL returned empty handed. Nada, nothing but sting rays. Too bad and the bride was not happy about hearing our adventure. I don't know why.

All in all a great time but wish she had caught a red. Maybe next time.
