Waited on the gate to open to get to the lighthouse. Went west and fished oyster bars and shoreline with topwater starting about 6:30. Four redfish, three just over the slot and one 18.5 inches. Rest of my family's out of town so that small fish is plenty to eat for just me :lick:

Went out to 14' east of the lighthouse about 8:00. Caught several black sea bass and a couple of trout on gulps and cut ladyfish. The trout weren't numerous but pretty nice, each about 19".

The hotter it got, the slower the fishing for me. Put the boat back on the trailer about noon but wouldn't have missed much if I would have left at 10:00. Got a plateful of food at Savannah's on the way back. First time there for me but I'll be back.

The crowd of boats on the east flats rivaled the one on July 1 -- don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Fortunately, I was on a different schedule than them so no cluster at the ramp.

Everything's cleaned up, dogs are fed so I'm having a couple cold  and going to cook that redfish in a couple minutes. I kept one of the trout and will have him tomorrow.

Life's pretty good about now

Hope everybody else has had a nice weekend too.

I dont know if the papers report of a giant cluster at the lighthouse ramp made any difference, or if it was because they limited the number of boats in the refuge to 90, but the ramp was fine for us. It was somewhat busy taking out, but people were acting courteously and it wasnt overflowing.

The scallop fleet was impressive. My parents mentioned that they wanted to go so we all loaded up. Then they pulled a fast one on me and told me they werent interested in the meat or cleaning them. I wouldnt have picked up so many if I had know that.
