My daughter and her friend decided to start the day with a horseback ride on the beach, so we didn't launch until around 12:30. Ran to Pig Island, where a heretofore reliable local source told me was the mother load of scallops. No mother load. Moved out and looked on the points of grass off of Lighthouse bay...found a few. Moved in the southern part of the bay. Lots of boats. Found some more, but it was so shallow you you were laying on the grass to snorkel and too thick to see the scallops wading. Little girl who came with my daughter didn't like the grass so after a while we moved to southeast of blacks island into a little deeper water. Found them scattered in this area. Again the little girl with my daughter said the sandy part was too deep, so we moved again. Parked on the big sand bar in front of Black's Island and let them play while I cleaned the catch. Back on the trailer by 5:30 with a 1/2 quart of cleaned scallops. Not much for a grocery trip, but the kids had fun and the boat ran great and the weather was way better than predicted

Mud:
Sounds like a fun day. The hunt is the good part, anyway. If you want to find a load, go to St. Marks. Limits in a half hour, guarantee. Problem is, then you have to clean them.
Regards,
EJ

Mudducker you should go to keaton.

I brought the boat back with me and I am taking a Boy Scout troop on Saturday to Keaton

Sounds like a lot of fun. By the way there are NO SCALLOPS @ Keaton Beach. Only thing there is the elusive trout and redfish.
