First experience with Circle Hooks

Guys-
All my doubts about circle hooks were removed yesterday.
We fished 4/0-7/0 Size didn't seem to matter to the fish.
Hooked every fish in the corner of the mouth- Live bait or cut bait.
Sure made taking them off the hook easier.
It did take me a little time to quit setting the hook-
Old bass fishing habits die hard.
Anyone tried them drifting bait for trout / reds?
How about with plastics?

Have used them some trout fishing using both live shrimp and plastics just have to use a smaller wire circle hook I used both Penn and Mustad.

My wife loves them bottom fishing. She sits on the but of the rod, and props the fore-grip on the gunnel. When she gets a bite, she just starts cranking!! She's like a one armed bandit that'll make sandwiches
I started using them almost full time two or three years ago, and now that I've quit setting the hook, I'm fine.

Works for me. We have caught big cobia 50 - 60 inches on 4's
Pinkmouths on 1 or 2's
Put a pinfish on put in rod holder on a slow drift set and forget when he hits all you do is pick up and reel.
Just watched a sailfish show talking about how it was hard to make the change but it is all they use.
I am so glad you got them three hundred- forty days a year I live through the fishing of others.
Still a little disappointed you never got the tarpon.

My one arm bandit just makes chum.
She gets sea sick inshore.
If I want her to pack a sack lunch I have to take my step son.
Sounds like you got a trophy wife.
I bet my wife can out shop your wife though.
We all have our talents.

Owner and Gamakatsu , only two circles to use. Circle hook under CT, + small pinfish = trout and many other species!!

I would have to disagree with you on that one...

When I live bait, which is not very often, I use an Owner Light Mutu Circle. I have had excellent results with this hook. Mainly belly hooking whitebait when live chumming.

When the fish are feeding/biting aggresively circle hooks are fine as they lower the gut hook ratio, but on a slow bite I have to many misses to recomend them. IMO

I've used nothing but circle hooks offshore for years. I've tried some inshore but don't have much patience with them. Maybe if I used a heavier soft plastic with one I could still cast it ok. Has anyone else tried this?

That all depends on the target / conditions.
The "behind the counter" 10/0s at RMS are great tarpon hooks along with Mustads. VMC 5/0-7/0s for sails. Bigger Gams for big water dropping. 2/0-4/0 Owners for live baiting trout / reds.
Personally I don't use circles for grouper / snapper around here. I find myself rocked up / mugged more often that with Js.
