I got the same answer as Leonreno.
Mistaking the last x in the equation as a multiplication symbol gives the 8000 answer.
Maybe the equation is wrong, maybe it was put together by a wanna-be geek instead of a real geek.

yep, you are right. If it was a multiplication it would have been * instead of X
