Our annual trip to the Florida Keys (Key Largo area) over the Sport Lobster season has transitioned from a short family trip focusing on lobster to a one week extended family reunion. This time there was 20 of us from 6 families and as anticipated the Keys were wonderful.

Here are a few snapshots to give an idea of what we did, what we saw, and some of what the FL Keys offer. There were so many good photos it was tough to pare them down. Unfortunately, to load them on this site I had to significantly degrade the resolution so they are a bit blurry. Most of the underwater photos were taken on snorkel.

In addition to having a good 2007 Sport Lobster season we spent a considerable amount of time on the water snorkeling around Carysfort Lighthouse, SCUBA diving, tubing, a bit of fishing, and just hanging out.

Sunday: Leaving Gainesville Sunday morning at 0400 hours we arrived a bit late in Key Largo around 1330 hours (one flat trailer tire).

Monday & Tuesday: We did a bit of pre-scouting to get an idea of the lobster situation. Overall, we found that the numbers we’ve discovered over the past few years didn’t have a lot of lobster but by covering/scouting a lot of ground we found a fair amount of bugs and figured that we would just have to pick away at the bugs.

See you Wednesday morning…………………………..

We did a little patch reef fishing and the 2nd boat went sword fishing. We didn’t catch much patch reef fishing and the cousins (2nd boat) had a couple of swords on that didn’t stay hooked up. The cousins have really gotten “hookedâ€

Nice pics Brian. Did my first dives during mini season 3 years ago. I've put my oldest kids (6-8 ) on scuba in the pool and during scalloping. They both love it and can't wait until they are old enough to get certified.
