We left Carrabelle at 0745 this morning and ran straight to Yamaha. We caught several short grouper in the first hour. I finally landed a 25" gag at around 1000. Then the AJ's showed up. We couldn't get them to take anything but live bait. and all we had was 2 dozen pin fish for 3 of us. It was fast and furious for about 45 minutes, until we ran out of pin fish. We boated several shorts but managed 5 keepers. I have never caught an AJ. I now know what I've been missing. Even though the bite wa slow, we all caught a few fish and had a good time.
The best of the day. 35" to the fork.

Good Job TC!!
Been waiting for your report since I saw this morning that you were heading out.

Looks like a really good decision based on what the weather Nocasters are predicting for this weekend.

That sky behind you sure looks good.

Did your party have trouble catching live bait to start or did you just decide to go with what you had??

I told you they were fun.
You guys should have run over to the O tower and caught some cigars.

Tom and I had a difficult time catching bait last Saturday. We stopped and bought what we had this morning. In fact, we bought all the Mashey Sands BP had. Didn't know about cigars at "O". Guess I will next time.

TC, another good day on the water.
I can,t understand peoples objections to catching AJ,s , I know they are not considered the best of eating, but they look built for speed and putting up a good fight.
If they don,t want to eat them, they could always release them.
Something else I will have to catch one day.

I have eaten AJ's and found them very good table fare

The really big ones I have cut the shoulder strip out...from the lateral line up to the top of the fish and then sliced the filet into steaks. The meat is slightly pink but very good fried. The smaller ones just cut any dark line out and go for it.
I'll take any that you fellows don't want to mess with
