St. Marks 08-09

Post by Boat_Full »

My brother just moved by to Tallahassee, so my wife and I took him fishing today. The bite was slow until about 3-3:30pm, but we managed to put a few keepers in the cooler and had a great time on the water with the family. Also, had a blast fighting 2 goliath groupers. My back will be hurting in the morning. Made it home in time to fix fresh grouper fingers and pasta.

Here's my brother with his keeper.

Here's a 28 inch one that I put in the cooler.

Here's my wife with another keeper.

Nice fish . How deep did you guys have to go?

I've been limited to inshore fishing since early spring and never did much this year.

We were in about 30 ft of water. I've had better luck deeper this summer, but there are still some the shallows.

Nice report! Did the water look good enough to dive in?

I was actually about to jump in for a free dive(I always carry my cressi sub), when I saw 4 cudas. The vis didn't look great(maybe 10-13 ft from the surface), so I didn't push it. I think that I'm diving the Exxon Template next weekend, I hope the vis is better there.
