Tournament Proposal Nov 10, 2007 for Charity

I was discussing an idea with Elder Care Services today. They run Meals on Wheels in this area. I was thinking we could have a Trout Tournament October 27, 2007. It would cost $40.00 per boat to enter, and all checks would be written straight out to Elder Care Services (ECS). We would get vendors, manfactureres and local merchants for prizes, and ECS would be willing to bring out volunteers to cook up a fish fry afterwards. FSU has its homecoming that day against Duke but the game will most likely be at night. The idea is to raise money for the Meals on Wheels campaign, and we would have a kayak and boat division. A local bank may contribute money for a Biggest Trout. What do you guys think. We could do a side Calcutta too.
1st 2nd & 3rd for biggest Trout, and 1st 2nd 3rd for largest five fish legal aggregate. in both kayak and boat divisions.

I would like to do it as a joint effort with NFGFC, FCKA, and Bigbendfishing.net. It could be the "Forgotten Coast Fall Trout Tournament" benefitting Elder Care Services.

Thanks guys,

I would like it if all three groups, FCKA, NFGFC, and bigbendfisihing.net would be able to come together and do this thing. I know its last minute, but when I was at Elder Care Services (ECS) Wednesday they mentioned that they have their big fundraiser in October. I thought that we could all get a little impromto tournament together and raise a little money for them and have a little fun that day too. I don't think we need a committee for this one, but if we can get some volunteers to solicit vendors, manufacturers, and merchants for prizes that we can give to 1, 2, 3rd places, and raffle off the remaining prizes to participants. I think our focus is to raise money for the ECS, and we can best do that with donations. If you can get monetary values from those donating and their mailing information, then ECS will mail them the 501C for taxes as well as the participants in the tourney. If you would like to volunteer to get donations for prizes then email me at jeffsuber@yahoo.com or call me at 850-210-9296.

If you would like to make a donation of a prize, then you can also call me.

If you want to be a participant then let us know on here so we can figure out how many folks we can expect and thanks to everyone for their interest. This group helps feed the elderly through volunteers and donations and anything we can do would help feed those who can't feed themselves.

One change is that we would have to do it November 10, 2007. On Oct 27, is a take a kids fishing event, and Nov 10 is a New Moon.

Thank you.

Any excuse to fish in the Fall is fine by me. We may get spoiled with them cooking the meal for us though. Count me in

My wife works with Elder Services over here on this side of the Panhandle. She just got back from Miami for a training for Elder Service/Care. It's a good cause that you are supporting.

Again I wish I was closer to be able to help, even if for just donating prizes. I hope it goes very well and you guys raise a ton of money. I might even have to drive over and participate.

Hmmm...need to check with my activities coordinator (wife) to see if anything is planned. If I can't make it I'd still donate some money. Of course since I've never fished this area in the fall I have no idea what the patterns are. A good excuse to find out :P .

I'm Game.

Any way to let the Florida Big Bend Flyfishers Club join in the sponsorship? We would be interested in supporting a Fly fishing aspect.

Is the kayak area only for kayaks or can I bring my 4x8 fishing dingy? With or without a 2hp?

In the kayak division, canoes and dingys without a motor would be acceptable.

I spoke with Elder Care Services today and they will be providing the cooks and some volunteers for the cook out afterwards. They will also bring a tent or two, and Scott has given s the go-ahead for using his place on Nov 10, 2007. If some of you would be willing to solicit sponsors for prizes email me and I will get you a copy of a form type letter with a list of Elder Care Services mission statement and how important it is to support their Meals on Wheels program. I'll even get some information for folks to make straight up donations. if you can help, send me an email at jeffsuber@yahoo.com Thanks you.

Jeff, I'll donate $5 /pound for the winning stringer of trout to go to the cause. Anyone else want to add to that?
