Had a fun day out on the water yesterday. Started the day off early decided to try for some reds. First fish in the boat 18in trout on a shrimp. My buddy decides to stay with the pin fish, and eventually he hooks a bull red fish, and the fight was on. Eventually he gets him close to the boat, as soon as Mr. Red sees the boat he high tails it to Cuba, in about 4 secs Mr. Red is 75 yards out. About this time the red decides to act like a tarpon and jumps 6 ft in the air. I thought "hmm I have never seen a red do that", until I see the 10in fin sticking up out of the water right behind the red. At this point I feel like I am watching a great white hit a harbor seal, water flying, teeth nashing, and finally redfish chum :smt010 :smt011 :smt010 . All I could say to my buddy was "Wow
! that WAS a nice red". We estimated the red was in the 15lb range 35-40in. as for the shark he was in the 6-8ft range.

The tide started to get too low for use to stay where we were so we headed out to deeper water and found some grass flats in about 5 ft of water near a 14ft drop. Almost immediately my buddy brings in a 22in trout, very fat. For the rest of the day we catch small trout, sailcats, ladys, and a few blues. Around 2pm the wind totally died and the water slicked off and it felt like we were on the surface of the sun so we headed in.

Was a great day on the water, sorry for no pics (forgot the camera). I would have loved video of "Shark attacks Red" to give to the Discovery channel and or National Geographic.

Great Report. Thanks for sharing. Would have been nice to see that Red jump. Of course it would be nice to see anything in the water right now! I'm itching to go!

Same buddy of mine went again this weekend Saturday and Monday and lost 4 fish (2 trout and 2 reds) to decent size sharks again in the same spot. Sharks must be stacked up in there with the trout and reds.
