Hi everyone. I've been lurking around this site for several years and I'm finally getting a yak to fish in. I'll be driving from Tallahassee tonight down to Ft. Lauderdale, with a pit stop in satellite beach to pick up a Liquid Logic Manta Ray 12. Does anyone have any experience with this yak? The one for sale can be seen on craigslist here http://westpalmbeach.craigslist.org/boa/407945449.html

Is $600 a fair price? should I bother haggling down. I'm hoping I can get it for closer to $500. Either way I'll be coming back up with a yak, either this one or another I pick up down south.

Can't wait to finally get out there. When's the next touney?

I would shoot for $500 if possible. I like to buy local in case I have a problem, then I can go to my dealer for a fix. Liquid Logic is basically a Wilderness Systems Tarpon knock-off. Thats not a bad thing, its just the same design. It is a good boat, just make sure your new boat has no leaks in it. My cousin has one in Jax and its actually faster than the tarpon 120 according to my other cousin. Hope that helps.

thanks. I talked to a dealer in Jax today. he said its probably the hardest model to install a rudder system on. He said rudders run around $250 and take him about 4 hrs to install. I'll swing by and take a look at it tonight. Thanks again for the input.

I've decided not to get the manta ray 12. I'm going with a MiniX from Malibu Kayaks. I got a good deal on one in Ft. Lauderdale and should fit me well. Does anyone have any experience with the Mini-X?

I've researched the Malibu X-line of fishing yaks and they seem to be solid vessels with top of the line features. It should work well for you.
