Oh yeah.
The pre-show was excellent......showed, in my opinion Dale's greatest race the 2000 Winston 500 @ Talladega. From 17th to 1st in 4 laps. I watch that race every couple of months....gives me chill bumps each time I see it.

Totally blew me away. I really never realized how much I missed #3. Think I m gonna go out and buy me another big #3 for the back windshield. I now know why I miss a few races a year now. Its definitely not the same. Dale Earnhardt was Nascar and no matter what anyone says, an integral part of Nascar died that day. Long live the memory of #3! I went upstairs and spent a few minutes in my gun room, where all my Earnhardt stuff is and remembered the great times that Ive had cheering him on. Gotta admit, dropped a few tears during the end of the movie. So much more than a man was lost that day. And BD, youre right, that was his most awesome race.

My 4 y.o. is a huge NASCAR fan, and he was watching it in bed with his mom last night. Obviously Dalel Sr. was before his time, but when I went in the room to tell him goodnight and turn off the TV, he was crying a little bit. I asked him why, and he said, "because that was so sad!"
I remember being at the night race in Daytona when Jr. won. That place was NUTS! Best fireworks show after the race I've ever seen, even had one explosion that made a big 3.

When the talk turns to NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, there are three memories that always come to me stronger than any others. The first was at Bristol (I think). Dale's car was tore all to pieces and upside down. He walked around it, wouldn't let them put the hook to it...got it turned over and jumped in and finished the race. I have no idea where he finished and it doesn't matter to me...just remembering the tenacity...that was Dale. The second was when Jr had just won and Dale came busting into the interview in the winners circle, grabbed Jr around the neck, looked at the interviewer and said... "the boy drove a hell of a race". He had that famous grin and it was from ear to ear. And the third memory was the day of the crash that took him. I was watching the race, saw him go into the wall and then get T boned.... saw Michael cross the finish.... heard Darrell in the booth all excited about Michael's win, then immediately say.. " Gee, I sure hope Dale's OK". With in I guess 20 min. or so we had the bad news and within another 15 minutes I had phone call's from my own son's asking if I'd heard the news and just wanting to talk. Wow...it's been all these years and I still can't write this without getting teared up.

SR...It really amazed me how a race car driver I never met touched me so. He's was 1 of a kind.
