Rainy day St. Andrews

When I left the house this morning @ 4:30, I knew It was going to be a rough day to fish, so I was in no big hurry. Got to the ramp and in the water about 7. The sun was just coming up and I could see what my day was going to look like so I took a few running shots of the weather coming in from Offshore.
I got to my first spot after about a 15 minute run. Started doing my thang, working the shore, hitting potholes,working the bait schools. Nailed a trout on the top dog in about a foot and a half of water. In the box he goes. After many blow-ups and misses another trout goes in the box. Although Trout are fun to catch, they're not what I came for. Sight fishing is out with the cloud cover so I spend the next half hour or so blind casting both top water and spoons. Again a few blow-ups, but no solid hooksets. Either a nice trout or reds breaks me off on some oysters. As I'm retying I look up to see a nasty looking storm front headed my way so I decide I need to find some protection from the full force of the wind. It's too far to run back to the ramp so after calling Chalk to get a read on the radar, I decide to duck in behind a point and anchor up to ride it out. So rain gear on and setting under the platform I sit there for about 45 min. bored out of my mind. Here's what it looked like just before I got to the Alamo.
After the weather broke I knew I needed to make my way closer to the ramp in case I needed to run in so I run back a few miles and set up to fish a little protected bayou that was slick as glass. managed to stubble over two reds within three cast of each other. Here's the first, 24".
If you don't know it, that's me looking ecstatic. Thought for sure that would be the only one of the day. About 10 min later another front moves through so I hunker down again and wait it out. after another 45min to an hour it breaks and I make my way to another spot closer to the ramp. So there I am, fly rod in hand, minding my own business. The sun has finally come out and I can see well enough to sightfish some. This Yahoo comes out of nowhere on a waverunner and waves as he goes by. I wave back showing him that I think he's #1. He must not have seen it, cause he proceeds to idle up behind me on the upwind side to ask if I've had any luck so far. jackass.! He was all decked out though. check him out.
I double timed it down the flat to get some room between he and I. I spent the next hour or so drifting over shallow grass flats casting to potholes with a Dupree Spoon fly. Saw many many reds and Two schools of over slot reds. Got a few strikes but they spit the fly before I could set the hook. Yet another front was barring down on me and this one looked like it would set in for the day so I wrapped it up and ran to the hill.
I know it's a lot of write up for just a few fish but hey when you ain't got pix of a lot a big fish, you gotta fill with something.
