Not to derail the previous post of glass and bars but I found a couple places on the front bottom of my Carolina Skiff that the gel coat had been damaged..one of em four inches square apparently came from the corner of my trailer trying to load in a wind crossways the current..other was a place bout a ft long inside the chime that had been there awhile...neither caused any leaking..
Boat dealer here in Albany told me to use Formular 27 to patch it..he wasnt interested in the job his self....couple pieces of duct tape would have covered both places....Has anyone ever used this formular 27 ? and how easy is it to work ? Is there something better ? other than duct tape ?

No I have not used it....I would ask the dealer to get you some matching gelcoat and fix it yourself...or you could buy a repair kit at west marine.

it's really not that hard to do...don't expect an exact color match, but you can get it close if you play with the colors.

Only thing I do different is I put a coat of styrene on the area prior to adding the gel coat....Styrene is kind a like a primer for gel coat, helps the new bond to the old chemically vice a mechanical only bond (sandpaper).
