The one fish that eludes me

I have caught fish of all colors, size and variety, but one fish eludes me.....
.... the ever slippery lake shiner.
I cannot catch one to save my life, much less enough to fill my live well. Me and a friend have tossed hog pellets, chummed with oatmeal and even stolen our wives panty hose to tempt these bait fish, and am still stumped
Help!
What are your methods?

Grim,
After Cary's Bait and Tackle came under new ownership there was a fellow working there who caught his own lake shiners. I asked him how he did it and he told me that he would go to talquin around dusk in deep water in the middle of the lake, throw out some cracker crumbs and when they started feeding he would throw a cast net on them. He always had some nice ones in the 8 to 12 inch range. I was gonna go with him a time or two but he quit working there for some reason unknown to me. Hope that helps.

We have always done it like this...
The day before we are trying to catch them..
Pick a cove in the edge of the pads- or a small cove along the bank
Put out sinking fish food- or dry dog food we have soaked in water.
The next day go back and throw out some food again to chum them up.
You can catch them on a #10 hook and bread ball under a bobber
Or use the cast net.

a canned dog food the day before and hog feed the day of has asways helped me. But that was back in the day when you could throw a cast net of the dock of lake carr, and it hit water.

I have tried the hog pellets the night before and then chum with bread or oatmeal the day of and we only seem to get bream. I may start trying the cast net as much to get practice with it as anything. thanks for the responses.

I agree 100% this method has worked for me many times at Lake Jackson, carr and many other small ponds.
