Another phone call and I was told that there were 10-15 redfish tailing in front of Birddog's boat and they would not eat or spook...I informed him that my flyrod was in the truck and I could be there in 45 minutes

I had a redfish guide tell me that often when they are tailing but not picking up your lures then why reinvent the wheel.. Chunk Mullet, in a area so as not to spook them, and wait a while, if they will eat at all, they will find that mullet and eat, if they don't eat your chunk on mullet then best move on or else you'll spend the whole day looking at tails. After that I have always had a few frozen mullet on the boat and there has been a time or two that I have had this exact situation come up in mosquito lagoon and the mullet has save the day for me. I love to fish artifical, but love to catch fish more!!!
