Had to work at the Point today, so I decided to bring a pole or two along and mix a little pleasure with work  Waded out into the surf around 10:30am and on the 3rd cast.....BANG!!!!! 23" trout :o Another cast......BANG......another trout. I brought 2 rods out with me, but quickly gave up the idea of managing two. This went on for about 2 hours..... I stopped briefly to try some of the live shrimp, but only the pins and nursery trout were interested. Back to the jigs and BAMMM.....
Ended the day around 1:30pm to wrap up work and head home. Came back to Tally with only one keeper trout at 23"....this was because all the others were over 20"..... :o I lost one of the biggest trout I have ever seen.......when it came to the top it looked like a silver gag grouper.....I only got one grab at it, but the fish was just too big to handle without a net.....it was every bit of 30".....that hurt :smt010

Earlier in the morning the fish preferred topwater pink Mirrorlure and silver/black TopDog. Later I switched to white jerk shad and molting gulp. All trout on the molting were 20+ however the biger ones preferred topwater. Thinking about trying it again tomorrow before work

I will be at AP next weekend. Will be surf fishing sat and sunday. Looking forward to it even more now.

Where on the point were you. Our cabin is where Carousel Dr. meets the main road. The old pier is right in our backyard.....

You did better than I did in the same general area...Went out of Mashes Sands with a buddy that supposedly had been tearing em up in the area.. It wuz rough as whitleather most of the day..did more hanging on than fishing and I nearly wore a hot pink He-dog out..Only trout I caught was a barely legal 15"+ and that on a 52m. If Id had some grubs might have done better..I had intended to only use hard baits and that was all I used...Hit some oysters with a gold spoon to no avail fore we left...

JT....I'll tell you right where I caught 'em......it was right down by the palm tree where the sand is  I'm going back in the morning with a buddy....if we dont catch anything, I'll tell you where we went........if we do, I may keep it to myself till after the next tournament

Sundown, we're you out there today??? It wasn't too bad where I was. Morning was flat and when I left at 1:30, it was just starting to chop a little. Fishing the jerk shads worked great on the trout, but I didn't find the first red. That area is unique....it's either all trout no reds, or all reds, no trout. Tomorrow will probably be all reds.......
