For those of you who haven't read it, here's a good first hand account of what happened..
The closing statement by the boat owner and one of the two lucky souls is what pompted me to post the article.

“All I have to say is I hope reading about this will help keep somebody else safe,â€

2 very lucky gentlemen. Sounds like their boat was very substandard if all that was holding it up was an empty gas tank.

I wonder if this was the boat. The article said that he went "down and put on some dry clothes."

This boat in 12 foot seas? Wow. The cabin would explain the lack of flotation as well.

I wonder what the marine report said the seas were going to be that night?

I am glad that they were ok.

For the last 10 years or more even the cabin models were required to have sufficient flotation to float upright. I had to threaten the guy who redid my old pro that if he didn't put flotation in it, I was gonna knock a knot in his noggin. He could see no reason for it. I offered to take him about 20 miles offshore and leave him with just a life jacket, but he chickened out. :smt012
