Took my 9 yo son deer hunting today and he got his 1st deer. He used a 7mm-08 his grandfather gave him. Made an excellent shot through both shoulders. I was extremely proud.

Congrats feels good don't it? ...my oldest (12) got his second one last Sunday. He got his first one when he was 7 ..had to wait a few years for the second ...maybe it was because I wasn't in the stand with him for this one.She was a little small but he was excited and did it all by himself . Already smoked both hams and they was :lick: I will be making some jerkey with some of the scraps and shoulders .....Neck shot with a .243 at 75 yards. They grow up fast keep em in the woods or on the water.

They are on the move now. Caught this one a couple of nights ago.

And this guy came walking up in the back yard about 9 this morning....

Don't shoot 'em no more. Just enjoy them....

I got one though that needs culling....

And I do love deer sausage..... :lick:

BD,
Nothing better than spending time in the woods/outdoors with your kids. Congrats to you both. Still remember my son's first deer, and his reaction after the fact.

Thanks for sharing.
