Got away from Shell Island this morning about 7:30..Water at the light house was slick as glass so headed straight offshore....Put stretches down at ST Marks reef and started circuit over some numbers that have produced in the past....Lizard fish and Sea Bass were numerous...Lost one heavy fish which felt like a grouper but didnt see a grouper all the morning....sea perfect..almost too calm..
Came back inshore bout 11 right after the low and started trout fishing off Gray Mare..Put three 17"ers in the boat in bout 5 minutes then it stopped ...wind picked up and the tide was slow returning....wind was southerly though so I would have thought it would pushed the water back faster than it did.... whatever.............

Fished till bout three and caught about four more keepers...numerous shorts and catfish...Saw a huge bull shark in about 4' of water ..Water was clear as tap water....Also a lot of scallops still in the grass....
Had boat loaded and on the road by 4...

sounds like the groupers kept you running .Good that you got the trout it makes the long ride home a little easier......

From here is St Marks closer than Econfina? Or are the about the same.I have never been to St Marks that is why I am asking.

St marks is closer than Enconfina for me...Even if I go through Monticello....about 115 miles from my house in the south part of the count...

That's the way to work those trout, SD. Wished you would have picked up a grouper or two.
