So we wandered down to Perry for my brother in laws annual post front tough as heck fishing trip.
I called Spring Warrior, and talked to James at 10:00 he said zero water and fast N.E. winds.
His advice was don't try it or plan on waiting for hours before there will be any water.
We headed to Keaton no doubt there will be water there right? Wrong I have never seen it this dry before.
There were about a dozen boats waiting for water and one dog gone nut that wasn't.
I tied a rope to the boat and one to the trailer put it in reverse slammed on brakes about 4' per shot.
After three hard slams I was at the tipping point, I eased her back and off.
After hanging the trailer that one time, I wasn't going there again, so I did the old combat drop.
Away we go I ran about four miles and saw a good tide line and current rip and stopped to fish all by myself.
Within twenty minutes I was at the heart of the armada, surrounded by six boats cutting me off, about to crash into each other trying to get in my drift.
I bailed the area, water was coming in quick, so I spent an hour hammering the bars with nada to show for it.
I was headed to my stomping grounds and the same armada that had crashed my party earlier was all huddled up.
I decided to drift with them, and saw a couple of fish in nets but not in mine.
Dropped into one of my favorite creeks and got a pull I missed her and finally decided this ain't it.
We are right about normal for fishing with Frank, then I decide to run the bank, and get bit once or twice.
Finally I pop a Red on the ice it goes, then the bro in law pops one it barely measures and it gets tossed.
In the box goes a flattie now another Red and a Trout too, he is officially getting irritated.
I continue to catch a few here and there now I am getting scared he ain't going to put one in the box.
We fished till just about dark at the end we got a double and he got another it is about dark and we tucked tail and ran.
That was just about hairy as I have seen, it was getting dark fast and we hauled booty.
We got to the channel and passed a boat getting pulled in plopped her on the trailer and headed for Georgia.
A quick pit stop at Kens Bar B Que at Madison cured what ailed us, good Bread good Meat thank God lets eat.
Again we did not kill them but we dang sure caught them.
No to top water, Mirrorlure Catch 2000, spinner bait, Gold Redfin, White and New Penny Gulp on a CT worked for us both.
