Econfina 12/1/07

The tides and the wind were not supposed to cooperate Saturday afternoon, but we decided brave Econfina anyway. Tried to get out on the water around 1:00 pm and I guess we figured the low tide wouldn't bother us too bad. Big mistake though. It took about an hour and a half to get to the flats. Used a few four letter words in the process, but we eventually made it out.
Hoped to drift for a while and catch a few trout waiting for the tide come back and then trolling the shoreline for reds.
Caught a good bit of trout within the first hour, but most were shorts. Lots of small sea bass too.
The wind was blowing out of the north and the high tide never really made it back in before dark. Saw a few reds tailing, but ran out of daylight. Apparently they spook easy when your in a hurry.
Didn't have a great day, but we didn't get skunked either. Got some nice pictures of the sunset.
I'm about to grill a few of our trout to celebrate a trip to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, hopefully. Maybe we'll be in contention for the BCS title next year. Better watch your back Tebow.
