Snatch-N-Reel and I met up this morning and were the 2nd boat at the ramp at about 7:15. The fog was incredibly thick and so we idled out and to the East.
We went in to fish the shoreline around several new-to-me rock piles. The wind was whipping out of the South when we started fishing at 8 AM. It didn't matter though because four casts in and we had a 26 1/4" red in the boat. By 8:30 we had two stud reds in the boat and had released five others along with two upper slot trout. The water fell out around 11 causing us to move out a tenth of a mile, but we continued catching fish until we left at 2:30.
We caught 19 redfish, 10 of which were in the slot, and stopped at Jerry's to weigh our best two...a 26.25 and a 24. They weighed in at 10 13/16 lbs. We only caught four keeper trout, but had one around 24" come unglued at the boat also.
Like last week, we caught most of our fish on a 1/16 oz jighead and a white grub. We caught a few on the TSS and a couple on the Chug Minnow 35 topwater. We both left our cameras at the house, but I did get a few pics of our two that we kept on my dad's camera and will try to load them on tomorrow.
The only time the depth recorder read more than 3' was when we were in the river. Most of our fish were caught in 20" or less water. The water temp had risen to 63 today and the fish were still biting when we left. It was a heckuva day considering that we're two days from New Years.
Keep em bent.
