NFGFC Meeting 1/3/08 Recap and Pictures
Posted: January 3rd, 2008, 9:50 pm
It was good seeing everybody tonight at the meeting. For those that weren't able to make it, here's a quick summary:
Mike Scibelli, treasurer, spoke about club finances...basically, the club is a not for profit and has a goal every year of spending most of the money left in the bank on the Christmas Party. Because of this, the club begins the year with a balance of approximately $200.
Steve Taylor spoke about a wide variety of things (when he wasn't checking out the waitress)...meetings will be on the first Thursday of the month at the Beef O Brady's on Thomasville Road in Tallahassee. Next month's speaker will be the legendary Bill Palmer (Reel Slow) and he'll be speaking about catching redfish. The speaker for March will be Capt. Pat McGriff and he'll talk about catching trout and redfish in the Panhandle.
John Vickers, tournament director, announced that there would be a tournament this weekend at Jerry's Bait and Tackle, but that it will not affect the points standing for the year. $20 entry fee or $25 with a non-member. Check-in at 6 a.m. All tournaments (the exception is the July one) will be held on the first Saturday after the first Thursday of the month. The February tournament will be on the 9th (?) and will be a redfish tournament. Largest redfish takes it. It was suggested that the red with the most spots takes the sidepot. The March tournament will be out of Keaton Beach.
We had some great prizes tonight from several of our sponsors. Special thanks to Advantage Marine, Hogy Lures, BiteaBait, etc. Mook, Birddog, and Sir Reel cleaned up on the prizes. Jeff Suber won the grand prize, a really nice wrapped steering wheel done by Chalk. Thanks Chalk!
