Took the advice of the catching reports and went to a creek. Prior to leaving the house I checked the tides (lowtide at 8:14) and the lunar table (Bite was 9:30 to 11:30). I slide the Ghostrider into the basin at 8ish and let the dawgs eat for a nice cool ride across the bay. I ran up into a creek as far as I dared on a negative tide and shut her down and started fishing. The creek was real shallow, found a nice oyster bar (not to many in St. Andrews bay)....Eased into the back of the creek and there were holes and there were trout and redfish. No pics
all the players were underage and I didn't have written permission to post their photo's
.
I did see two small schools of trout and one larger school of trout, they looked like mullet at first, but they was trout.
Ran over to my new sand spots to see if anyone was home, nope.
Ran to one of my favorite redfish banks...clipping along at 38 mph...scanning the bank...no boats....get within 50 yards of where I wanted to shut down and green boat magically appears off my port bow...I nearly planted the boat trying to spin out of there, off to another spot.
Arrive at destination, get the flizzie pole out....ease along and see a few sheepshead playing hide and seek with the barnacle covered timbers...on down the bank to the spot...nobody home, onto spot two....hmmm bronze shadows easing away from me...fly in the air, lands on their head and they leave....dammit. Pulling in my line and resetting, look up, they are coming back, fly in the air, fish leaves....regroup, they come back again....little more lead....fish are picking at something on the bottom...I twitch the fly....redfish turns and looks..redfish shots me a bird and leaves
This continued on for the rest of the day...redfish need provac or a shot of liquor
Tally for the day: 8 trout, 1 redfish
Cast to redfish, trout, sheepshead and mullet
Saw a dead redfish (prop), dead catfish with it's tail eaten and another dead trout (prop)
Got one lean with the flizzie pole
Life is good, can't wait til next time
