Got to CBC around 8:00am to find a very low tide in the river and FOG, FOG and more FOG!!!! We didn't get to launch the boat until 10:00am and idled all the way out to the channel in about 1.5 foot of water :o Got out to the bay and couldn't see a thing....except for the lonely kayaker sitting at the channel marker looking lost (anybody from here?) Anyways, we punched in a number a took off through the thick fog. Stopped off at the first spot and nothing. Went to spot #2 and nothing. Ran out to the famous rock bass hole and proceeded to fill the cooler with them. You couldn't even get the bait 15' down before they were nailing it. Caught some real nice ones....biggest I've seen in a while. When our wrists began to tire from snagging them with light tackle at 45' we decided to try one more grouper spot. Sat right on the spot with only one hit and miss :x We gave trolling a try for a few miles with nothing.....tried every color in the box. Decided to run in with a nice limit of rock bass and lick our wounds. No grouper to speak of which is a first for me. Guess I need to get out more often
Beautiful day on the water once the fog lifted  Oh yeah, running out in the fog during the morning, we did run up on a full size wooden picnic table floating about 6 miles offshore :o Never had that happen.....

Bait used was Ly's, squid and a few live rockies. We marked fish all over the bottom, they just wouldn't take. This time last year we were slaying them using the same methods....go figure.

If it makes you feel better I prefer the taste of rock bass over grouper for sauteing, but it sounds like the grouper won. I expect you to get the best of them next time.
