I borrowed Chalk's skunk pic. He can keep it or pass it on to someone else.
Anybody who wants Wakulla Beach can have it too. I've never done much around there.
It took me about 5 years to try there again and it'll be 30 next time.
5 hours. Lot's of wildlife. No fish. Skated a Sand Trout & that don't count.
Just makes me want to go back out today.
Somewhere else. :-?

There are 2 or 3 really nice spots around Wakulla Beach. If you don't know where they are when the fishing's tough, you're screwed.

Thanks for posting, Lit.

I started on the outer west bar inside of Patty's Island and worked up West Goose Creek almost
to Shepards Spring, and back. Fished it all hard. Mostly with a new penny Gulp/1/8oz jig.
That path didn't cover all the spots I know & would like to have fished but it shoulda coulda found something.
I'm bitter, maybe next time,
(I'll be somewhere else).

I hear ya. I've never done much up Shepard Spring. Though I'm sure there is a spot or 2 somewhere in there.

Winter creek fishing can be quirky. It's easier to find them on a low tide. I'm with you, though, Lit. I have caught fish at Wakulla Beach, I just dislike fishing that area.

You wouldn't want to go today,it's raw out there, just made a run to the LH and back, wind must be 20 or better out of the east out there. If you go back try east goose creek, better rock holes and channel for winter reds once you get in it.

Found these 2 links on East Goose Creek and thought it was interesting. Figured somebody else might think so too.

Back in the 60's and 70's there were Mallards all up and down the Ocklockonee River drainage......now very few. Flyways change as habitat changes would be my guess.

Being a pretty serious bird junkie I did enjoy those links. Thanks.
A couple things were particularly interesting to me. The old names of birds were neat,
like the White Eyed Towhee , the Pidegon Hawk, and others.
The Blue Goose account, from 1923, had this:
"I do not know definitely of any other Blue Goose having been shot at Wakulla Beach (a rather pretentious name recently applied to East Goose Creek)"

I've gotten into the trout pretty good blind casting out there before, but never much luck with the reds. I've talked to people that have absolutely slayed 'em out there before. It's one of those right place at the right time type places.
