pond bass

I was really pumped after this morning's romp over to a neighbor's pond. Talked to the owner as he drove up in his truck, he said nobody's fished there in a while. The bank I fished on the deep end is like a cliff, I had to dig into the cliff with my boots and then try to find some level ground near the bank. Set out 2 minnow rigs and got 1 dink speck, missed another one. That was it for minnows, they didn't want them. Got a nice bass on blue tube jig, worked my way done to a cove that has a dropoff into the deep water. Worked the dropoff with white curlytail rig and it didn't take long. Hung a big bass that snapped the 6 lb. line like a thread!
Tied on another jig and hung another big one, lessened drag to play fish and he came up, shook and threw it. Looked like 4 lbs!
Got 2 more nice bass and they quit there, so went over to the other end and waded out into a shallow flat with same curlytail rig. It was
on again, got 3 0r 4 nice bass to 3 lbs. Then they quit there, also. Kept 2 for the table and returned the rest. Now, that was fun!
It reminded me so much of reds in a hole up a creek, that is how these bass acted. Catch a few and then they are gone. Give winter bass a try since trout season is closing tomorrow, I intend to try it some more!
