Hope to be head'n back...

Sure has been a while since I've been able to check in! Left Tallahassee on Jan 24th so I could be with my Mother and Dad for her surgery on the 25th (Her birthday 
) My folks live in Frostproof and surgery was in Lakeland. The drive was aprox 1:15 each way...each day...for a full week. She tollerated the surgery pretty well and we were able to bring her home on Feb 1st. This is a Lady of 84 years who has only been in the hospital 3 times in her life (counting this one) and two of them were for hav'n babies! My Dad has pretty much been hospital free as well so we have a couple of folks here who don't understand some of the procedures and policies and the delay's associated with being in the hospital. Dad say Mom the first two days when She was at the worst and he had a tuff time with it. He got sick and had to remain at home until we were able to bring her home. That meant that I needed to fill in as far as answering questions and staying on top of everything that was going on. We went to pick up Mom...Dad was with us.. and we thought everything was headed in the right direction. The next morning, Mom hollered for me to check Dad and I went to see what was going on. He was covered up and shivering so hard that he could hardly talk. All he could manage was "heat me up".. I put 2 quilts on him and turned on the heat in the house. I kept checking him and when I went in about 30 min later he was laying on top of all the covers spread out and sweating from head to foot. I put some cold compress's on his wrists and got him cooled down and we decided it was time to find some help. About 8am I took him to the walkin clinic in Frostproof, but it being Saturday, the only doctor on duty was a pediatrician who would not see him. We got back on the road and drove to Lake Wales to the emergency room at the hospital. They checked him out and in and decided to admit him. This sure didn't set very well with Dad after just getting Mom home. He sat in the bed and just shook his head and kept muttering "Un beleaveable"! 
So, I went from driving back and forth to keep up with Mom to driving back and forth to Lake Wales to make sure that Dad was being cared for and to try and calm his fears about being in the hospital (he's 93). We were able to get him discharged Tuesday but it wasn't easy!! It's been interesting and challenging to say the least but we are hopeful that again we've got things headed in a good direction. I've spent most of today getting contact information together for various Doctors (6) and checking on drug orders (7 for Dad) and trying to make some appointments where they can go together. Dad still drives very well but Mom won't be able to for another couple of weeks (37 staples need to come out). They have a very good support group at their Church so that will go a long way to allow my wife and I to come back to Tallahassee with some level of comfort. Hope to see you folks soon.
