In the last year I have had three 52MR MirrOlures lose the back hooks on fish. :x The hooks pull out of the plug body. These lures were all fairly new. Has anyone else had this experience?

Your catching to big a fish, you need to tone it down

if you still have the lures, you could probably send them to mirrolure and they will give you new ones.

Mirrolure loweredtheir quality about 2 years ago. They have lots cheaper hooks, and aren't made as well. I've had several come apart.

I still have them. I was planning to send them back, just havn't got around to it. Makes you have a lot less faith that you'll land a fish with one of these lures after it happens a few times. I've had hooks break on other lures, but never pull out of the plug.

Broke an excaliber hook on a Spittin Image ($7.95).
I was disappointed so I called Pradco and talked to a customer service person and explained what happened.
He was very nice and concerned about my satisfaction so he sent me 4 new plugs. Two different coloration patterns, and I didn't even have to send back the hook that broke, so I just replaced the hook and kept fishing.
A letter works wonders too.

I've never had that happened, but I have gotten in the habit of rinsing my lured just like I do my reels and rods. If I don't, the hooks will rust almost overnight. I did bend my back hooks on a rattlin redfin last Friday. Someone's Equalizer got in my way!

I'm just glad it wasn't me he hooked into  ....Talking about a strong cast :o ...He missed that gator trout, all pumped up, reeled in, started to cast, hooked into my new virginal equalizer, made it look like an L and made a 100 :o yard cast WITH A BAIT CASTER :o :D no back lash....If it had been my ear, I would have been "Earless in Econfina" :o

The new chug bugs are the absolute worst. I took a new one right out of the package Saturday and began using it. After 1 redfish I had to bend 3 of the hooks back into shape. On the second red I completely lost the front hook and split ring. I tied on a spittin image after that and didn't have any more problems.

Contacted Jerry at L&S Baits in Largo, FL this morning about the faulty hooks. She informed me that they have not received any complaints about the lure's hooks till now. I mentioned that others may have had the same problem. L&S is looking into the matter.

Just got off the phone with Ray at L&S Lures. He was well aware of the problem with the tail hooks on Mirrolures. He explained that the hook on the tail is screwed in. When fish take only the back hook and twist, the hook is unscrewed slightly. After a number of times, the hook comes out. He stated folks had tried locktite, super glue, and other methods to retain the hooks. Ray informed me that there is no sure solution that the factory can offer except, ever now and then tighten the screw on the hook after catching a fish.
